Daily Draw: Prince of Disks

Today’s tarot card brings up one of the more interesting things about the Thoth tarot. Whereas most tarot decks follow the Page, Knight, Queen, King ordering of the court cards, the Thoth changes the names to Princess, Prince, Queen, and Knight. Even though it appears the Knight has moved up in the world, in reality the Knight and Prince are equivalent, as are the King and Knight. So, my Prince of Disks for today is really the Knight of Pentacles in most decks.

Morning Musings

This Knight is the most grounded of all the knights, tempered by earthy energy. He is loyal, a bit stubborn, and methodical, working towards his goals with tenacity. In the Thoth, he sits in a large chariot, which is led by a large Taurean bull. He may be going slow, but he is determined to get there, never losing sight of what matters most to him.

On today’s agenda is more writing (as usual!) and getting some house cleaning done. The steady, plodding energy of the Prince of Disks should help carry me through all of my to do list. Well, I’d better get started!

Evening Review

Well, today didn’t go as planned on the cleaning front. The girls actually picked up their room – woohoo! But I didn’t get to vacuuming or dishes because my upper back was throbbing. I will have to keep track of this, to see if our Prince of Disks is the indicator of back problems.

Now, I did get a lot of writing done. I journalled about my Peace and Worry reading, which I also posted here. For me, I like to write out my interpretations of the tarot cards, whether it be longhand or on the computer. Since I am a writer, it comes naturally to me to share my thoughts on paper, rather than speaking. Of course, I will be making some audio or video recordings of readings in the future, so get ready! But I find that writing brings out things I didn’t even realize I was thinking about the cards!

Speaking of journalling, I received my copy of Corrine Kenner’s Tarot Journaling today. I only skimmed it so far, but I’m liking what I see! I’m considering doing a review of the book, so let me know if that’s something you’d like to see here.

Overall, today has been a quiet one, with me taking things easy and working towards my goals. Now, I didn’t make a lot of strides, but the ones I did were measured and well thought out. Sounds like a true Prince of Disks day to me.

Daily Draw: Eight of Wands

The Thoth tarot brings me the Lord of Swiftness today, the Eight of Wands. This card used to come up quite frequently for me when I was feeling overwhelmed by life! I certainly hope to avoid that today, so let’s see what else this highly charged card has in store.

Morning Musings

The wand here are actually eight red arrows, shaped like jagged lightning bolts radiating from the center. There is as much energy available from within as from without. I have the potential for making great strides in whatever I choose to tackle today, as long as I ride the waves of energy and don’t fight it.

A bright rainbow arch is overhead, along with the symbols for Mercury and Sagittarius. Both fast paced astrological bodies, they encourage communication and adventure, respectively. Most likely a good day for writing and making dreaded phone calls!

Evening Review

Today felt much faster than the day’s events would indicate! I tweaked the font here at Tarot Musings, wrote about the Peace and Worry Tarot Spread, did some planning about my personal goals, and got some blog reading done! Sounds exhilarating, doesn’t it?

Well, it may not to you, but today, I felt truly alive. I was excited, vibrant, and I could just feel the energy running through my veins. Stress and worry were not an option, and I’d love for more days to go this smoothly. I can feel things going my way right now.

We also had some more snowfall, and it was coming down pretty fast! Sort of equals the RWS version of eight wands falling from the sky. I do hope that part goes away; I’ve been ready for spring for months!

Another oddity in my life: today was the first day I wasn’t carded for buying alcohol. Although that doesn’t make me feel that good about my age (I’m 26, after all!) I suppose I was exuding the self-confidence and maturity that makes me look wiser than my years. Either that, or the clerk was having an off day.

What got you truly excited and driven today? How does the Eight of Wands make an appearance in your life?

Daily Draw: The Moon XVIII

Today, I decided to try out my new Thoth tarot deck. And the first card I pulled from it is the Moon, which is a fitting card, in that I know this deck will reveal a lot of inner secrets! I already have that vibe, that this is more of a deck for my personal use and meditation, and not ideal for reading to others, at least not yet.

In the Moon, we see the upside down crescent in the sky between two dark columns. Two Egyptian jackal guardians stand on each side with their dog-like companions. From the waters, a scarab emerges, a powerful symbol of our fears and inner demons taking shape in the depths of our subconscious.

Morning Musings

I was planning on cleansing a few more decks over the upcoming days, and this is a good time to prepare the cards for future readings. I am also feeling called to do a spread for myself, although I haven’t yet decided on the question. This fits in with the Moon’s heightened creativity and intuition nicely.

Of course, when the Moon appears, it is always wise to be on the lookout for deceit, illusions, and trickery from others. Although I’m not sure how that could happen right now, I will investigate things thoroughly instead of taking them at face value.

One tidbit on this card that intrigues me is the waves that appear in the water and in the sky. They remind me of biorhythm charts, which show your physical, emotional, and mental energies for the day. As we live by the phases of the moon, our energy can easily wax and wane. I think I ought to take it easy today as well!

Evening Review

I am working through cleansing my tarot decks, as I am taking my time to make sure I am focused and calm before doing each one. It is a rather soothing ritual for me, very peaceful and methodical.

On the deceitfulness angle, I did have an occurrence today that sort of fits. My Paypal balance was not as it should be. Turns out, a few things that I had purchased had not gone through yet. So I have a running tab of what my actual balance is until Paypal catches up. Not a big deal, but could have easily screwed me up had I not caught it early.

Biorhythms never seem to work in my favor, and today was yet another mellow day. Not a lot of energy to get things done, yet I’m alert and want to do things. Simply no oomph! I will do the tarot spread later on this evening, when my kids go to sleep.

What do you watch for when the Moon enters your life? Have you dealt with illusions, trickery, or misconceptions?

Daily Draw: The Star XVII

The Star tarot card usually contains a woman pouring two pitchers of water, one into a river, the other into the reeds. Here, in the Legacy of the Divine‘s rendition, the elegant lady of the stars brings the blessings of hope and renewal over the tragic scene of the destroyed tower. Almost as fairy dust, the bright stars glimmer over the scene, encouraging growth and reminding us that all is not lost, no matter how hopeless things may seem.

Morning Musings

After my sudden sinus headache last night, I could use some of the rest and healing that the Star brings. It is starting to go away, but I think I’ll be doing a lot of recuperating today!

Also, I have a lot of tarot writing to do today, so I will be studying my spiritual beliefs and coming up with a lot more content for the Tarot Musings site. Assuming I get adequate rest today, that is.

Evening Review

Well, I did rest somewhat today, although I did decide to do a little grocery shopping, in the hopes that fresh air would do me some good. Nope! I was more wiped out than ever. But such is life.

I did refine my tarot deck wish list today, culling ones that no longer appeal to me, and adding new ones that I’ve discovered recently. I spent some time refining what I am looking for in tarot decks, and what will complement my current collection. Plus, I had a lovely time discussing tarot decks with my plurk friends.

Also, my daughters decided to pick up all the laundry and put it in the laundry baskets without being told! That is a miracle, a sign that things may be getting better in our house. Let’s just hope it lasts!

Daily Draw: Ace of Swords

Eagles, symbolizing the heights of empirical truths, circle around this intricately designed sword. A gift from the divine, swords in the tarot are always two-sided, indicating peace and destruction that a sword can bring.

Morning Musings

Aces stand for beginnings, and sometimes messages as well. The Ace of Swords heralds in the beginning of thought, a search for truth and meaning in life, as well as handling intellectual issues in your life, such as filing taxes or pursuing a new course of study.

I have ordered quite a few tarot books and decks, and am expecting them in the mail any day now. Yay! I hope a few of them arrive today.

However, I suspect that this one deals with the legal matters that I need to accomplish this year. I need to make a few phone calls, and get some neglected areas resolved quickly. Let’s hope for the best on this one! Also, that I don’t procrastinate and push it off to another time.

Evening Review

All right, so I didn’t get to those important phone calls. But I did make a master to-do list of all the important things I need to attend to in the upcoming weeks, so that is a bonus point!

Now, I did get my Thoth tarot deck today, along with its tarot bag. I also ordered a special coin, which says “The Path of the Tarot” on it. It is actually a silver dubloon made especially for Mardi Gras. I love coins, and was immediately drawn to it.

One phone call I did attend to was upgrading our existing cable service. Although, the cable company called us! We had been considering getting the extra cartoon channels for the kids, and since they went ahead and called us, we went for it. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I had imagined it to be either.

So, today was a rather low-key Ace of Swords day. They can be much more intense, as I have experienced in the past! However, the phone call, the packages, and the to-do list are all very pointed messages to me. My life is getting on track, as I pursue my goals intellectually and with purpose.
