Daily Draw: Nine of Wands

Eight of the nine wands seem to fence this Paulina Tarot creature in, providing both his support and his defense. He holds the ninth across his body, which has been bandaged around his chest and head. He has a look of shock or fear on his face, his eyes wide open. He is ready to face whatever challenge is coming next, although he is wounded and unaware of what the next obstacle might be.

Morning Musings

This card can indicate a success, after a lot of hard work. Personally, I see this one as determination and grit. Don’t give up, no matter how highly the odds are stacked again you! There is light at the end of the tunnel, eventually. But it feels much further away than it actually is.

This morning has already brought indications of this struggle. I woke up to find the kitchen in complete disarray as the kids decided to make themselves “breakfast”, consisting of leftover chicken and mashed potatoes. Ugh. If they would just come back and wake me up, I’d be more than happy to take care of it myself, just to avoid the mess! Or they could at least just sleep in for once.

Evening Review

Looking back on today, I have absolutely no idea how today fits in with the Nine of Wands! Oh well, maybe it was just applicable to the morning mess.

This afternoon, I spent time on the Aecletic Tarot Forum, getting comfortable over there. There’s a lot of good stuff going on right now, and I may blog about some of it from time to time.

I did a Full Moon Reading from a spread that I found over there, with my Bohemian Gothic Tarot. Great stuff, and a solid beginning to March!

Speaking of March, tomorrow morning the March TM TarotCasts will be posted! I made a nifty button over in the right sidebar, so even if you don’t catch them immediately, you can refer to any month’s TarotCast at any time! Feel free to stop by and leave comments throughout the month, letting me know if the readings were accurate.

Also, I discussed the possibility of going to next year’s Reader’s Studio with my man, since it is highly unlikely I could afford to go this year. He thinks it’s a great idea, and would actually be willing to go with me. Not the response I expected at all! He’s pretty indifferent to the tarot cards in general, but wants to spend time with me doing something that I love. Actually, now that I think about it, that is a victory indeed. Insert cheesy music here.

How do your Nine of Wands days turn out? Do they bring you only struggle, or a victory as well?

Ending February with a Full Moon Reading

The month of February ends on a dramatic note, with the full moon in Virgo. Whether you love or hate the full moon, it always brings unexpected energies into play. So, on that note, I decided to try out a lovely Full Moon Spread that I found on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum.  I’m giving my Bohemian Gothic a whirl, with its unique and amazingly realistic imagery. Some of the images fit the more traditional meanings, but overall the deck is its own playground.

Note the color red as it appears throughout this spread!

1. What can be seen with clarity, so bright it could blind you. – The Chariot

The Charioteer gives the impression of a dark archangel, with large black wings, and a red cloth wrapped around his torso. He wears a green Mardi Gras like mask, with feathers poking from the top. With one hand he lightly holds the reins, which lead the two sphinxes. They are statues of beautiful women, who don’t even resemble sphinxes until you examine their lion-like paws. Above them is the full moon, quite apropos, wouldn’t you say?

Apparently, I am getting my life into balance. Drawing the warring influences within myself into a cohesive whole. Learning how to do so with dignity, calm and poise, no matter how hectic the world around me may be. Yet I’ve still got a mask, a persona, that is in control. Not quite being my true self, not yet, but still getting things done.

2. What is completed, what closes a cycle. – Death Reversed

A walking skeleton sashays through a corridor, holding an hourglass and a red sheet draped over his left arm. At his feet lay two decomposing bodies, which he stares at intensely. Reversed, the bodies appear to be staring back at him. In the distance, three candles glow at the end of the hallway.

Getting Death reversed here suggests to me that things aren’t changing, and aren’t ending, not yet at least. I’ve been going through a period of personal growth and expansion, and I feel like I am just beginning. Although a new phase of growth and change may happen, it will not be a completed cycle, rather a new step in the same journey. The impression that the bodies are in sync with Death when it is reversed suggests that I am going to revisit some old paths, perhaps with a new perspective.

3. What begins to fade away, to darken, to abandon you…or what needs to do so. – Ten of Swords Reversed

Here the permanence of the swords’ effect is so real, that the body has been laid to rest. His tombstone is a cross, bearing the emblem of a sword. White flowers grow out of the earth, next to a potted plant, which was likely brought by the woman mourning at the site. Her eyes are covered by her hands, and her multicolored outfit includes a red apron. Dark clouds loom overhead, with just a touch of brighter light on the horizon.

Reversed, the sword appears as though it would impale the man again, rather than stand for a symbol of his life. The mourning woman is put above the dark clouds and the brightening sky. It indicates that mourning for the past is no longer necessary, what’s done is done, and the future contains hope. Over time, I will let go of my misgivings about my prior actions, and move forward, and perhaps finding a new “partner” or perspective on life.

0. Yourself. The Shadow Card. – The Star

A woman stands alone next to a fountain at night. Her hands are casually clasped above her head, as she looks above at the single star in the sky. A blue cloth is draped over her right arm, and a purple cloth is wrapped around her torso, exposing her breasts. The fountain is made up of two large, muscular men, holding up a deer and a ram, while the water runs out of the animals’ mouths.

The red cloths that were prominent in the Chariot and in Death reversed are still here, but now dyed into more subdued colors. Naturally, the apron of the receding reversed Ten of Swords isn’t here, as it is going away. I have hope for the future, and for this time in my life, incorporating the control of the Chariot and the transitions of Death in my own way. I am capable of improving my life, following my own spiritual path, and living by my own rules. I need not worry about the opinions of others, who would not wish me happiness and success. I am comfortable in my own skin, and can proceed peacefully, following my own star.

What does tonight’s full moon have in store for you? How do you reflect on the moon’s message? Do you have any insights you wish to share on this Full Moon reading?

Daily Draw: The Hermit IX

A solitary wanderer looking for wisdom from within, the Hermit is a card for when introspection is needed. The Paulina tarot features a woman on this path, carrying her wand and lantern. But this time, she’s not alone. A bird is perched on her covered head, and two other creatures walk alongside. She is not climbing up a mountain, but on a path by the river in the moonlight.

Morning Musings

I feel like the Hermit this morning! We have a birthday party to go to this morning, for my little nephew. As much as I love him, I don’t feel like going. I am exhausted, and we’re fighting with the bathtub drain. I’d rather just stay at home and get some rest.

Hopefully, I’ll find some time to myself today. Yawn.

Evening Review

Today was definitely a day all about me, for better or worse. I spent a lot of time today sitting on the couch reading. I just didn’t have the oomph to do anything else, really.

Between my exhausted mood, and the kids’ disruptive behavior this morning, we nixed going to the birthday party. I’m very sorry to everyone involved, but it just wasn’t going to happen. I tend to be a softie, and give in on things like this, but not today. There was a lesson for them to learn, that if they act out there are real life consequences. We will have to stop over in the next few days to make up for it, and take over his present.

My man fixed our bathtub drain issue, at least for now. Yay! One less thing for me to worry about.

I usually enjoy the Hermit’s company, but today I really could have used something a little more outgoing and energetic. Oh well. We can’t ride high all the time!

Daily Draw: Ace of Pentacles

New beginnings and fresh projects call with the Paulina Tarot’s Ace of Pentacles. In this scene, a beautiful lady, who is really the tree, is calling the forces of nature to action with her clarinet. Leaves, flowers, and birds all rush to the call, and the Pentacle is hanging overhead. Remember Fantasia where the faeries are all lilting about, spreading their magic and waking up nature? That’s the overall impression of this scene, even without actual faeries.

Morning Musings

While I am under no delusions that spring will magically appear today, the Ace symbolizes new growth and abundance. New projects, new directions, and of course material blessings in the real world. While I don’t have any new writing projects to focus on right now, I did record the TM TarotCasts for March last night. That is a new direction for me, and they’ll be available March 1st!

Also, the mountain of laundry I’ve been putting off needs done in the next few days. Today would be a good one to get it done, and out of the way! But I make no promises on that one.

Evening Review

Today was pretty straightforward, overall. This morning, the kids were actually pretty quiet, which is a blessing in its own right around here! The played quietly, in their room, and let me get some things done around the house, including dishes. Yay!

I also did make it to the laundromat, with my mountain of clothes! All caught up, and kids’ clothes have been completely sorted, so I know what they need and what they don’t. Next on the agenda is hitting the Goodwill store and stocking up on spring and summer wear.

We also splurged tonight by picking up some KFC. Yummy gravy! I am all about the gravy. I’ll let you in on a little secret too. I was born with the initials KFC. Yes, let the chicken jokes reign supreme! I’ve heard them all, and then some.

On the downside, all of this hard work gave me a backache. Sigh. Time to relax this evening and enjoy the rewards of a job well done. Maybe a bubble bath too.

So the blessings from the Ace of Pentacles included a fresh start, and a fairly clean house. I couldn’t ask for more than that today!

Daily Draw: Nine of Disks

The Nine of Disks bring prosperity and abundance, along with a real satisfaction for all the work done so far. Loose ends will be wrapping up, and tangible results will be evident. It is a time to enjoy life, not out of frivolity or procrastination, but because you have earned the chance to rest. Everything else has already been taken care of.

Morning Musings

Well, at the moment, I’m not feeling whole and accomplished like the Nine of Disks indicates. I did get a lot done yesterday, and there is more on my agenda! I’ve sorted through all the kids clothes, and now have to put them away. Laundry has to get done, since my washer broke recently, but I’m not really looking forward to doing that. I also want to sort through their old toys, but that will have to wait until they’re asleep.

On the writing front, I have a lot in store for Tarot Musings! At the moment, however, what I’ve got done is in my notebook, and needs to be typed up and posted here. I’ve got some ideas for the technical aspects of the website too, so stay tuned by subscribing, so you don’t miss a beat. I also need to write out some of my goals and plans, so I can create an action plan to deliver more great tarot information and spread the word to others.

Evening Review

So, today wasn’t as productive as I would’ve hoped. I’ve felt drained all day, but I suppose the Nine of Disks was telling me “Go take a break! You’ve earned it!”

I did, however, post about my method of tarot meditation. I will post my meditation I did with the Strength card in the next few days – hopefully tomorrow! I think you will all enjoy reading about my process with a single tarot card.

Also, on March 1st, I’m releasing my very first venture into podcasting, the TM Tarotcasts! Bear with me on this one, folks. Oh, and there will also be a written transcript, but I’ve been told that ya’ll want to hear my pretty voice. Or something.

About half of the clothes got put away today, which is a good start. (You’ll have to trust me on that one.) Other than that, I spent a lot of time relaxing with the family. Good times, simple times. Gotta soak them up as they arise.

The mailman was very good to me today – I got my copy of the Paulina tarot! It is so beautiful, I just want to ooh and ahh over them all day. Of course, I’m a hands on kinda woman, so I’ll break it out here pretty soon!

I hope you all had a wonderful day, blessed by the Nine of Disk’s bounty. Or at least, enjoyed every moment as best you could.
